A brief description of the institution’s sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:
KPU and Chartwells participate in the FeedBC local food program and attend multiple sessions over the year where local food producers introduce and market their products. Chartwells has also worked with our KPU Farm group to have local products on their menu. An example is an event where KPU potatoes are utilized to make poutine with proceeds going to the KSA student foodbank. We also have local food vending machines on the Surrey Campus/Spruce building.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The past 2 years have been quite challenging for Food Services with pandemic related campus closures and a significant reduction in foot traffic on campus resulting in the recent closure of 3 cafeterias. KPU is primarily operating the franchise Tim Horton’s on campus and there is little flexibility with those menu offerings.
