The sustainability office works to hold green events, and consult with others to have campus green events. the key components are as follows
events include baseball games, talks, consulting with outside organizations such as Shaun white air and style event in la.
Sustainability transit.
event offers sustainable choices, carpool, bus, bike walk. Events to be considered always provide info on how to reach the event, track how people arrive, and offer such benefits as bike valet.
Teleconference
so for many events we will record and provide online for greater views and to allow people to attend remotely. (Such as Firewire's Sustainability Talk)
Carbon offsets
we work to use offsets for green events. We are runing pilot progams to offset energy use. An example is our recent green event the large basketball game. not only did we win recyclemania game day challenge, energy is tracked and offsets will be provided to cover energy use.
Waste min and diversion, as well as tracking. (compost, recycle, landfill, and waste min no straws, single use items, or remove of disposable items)
extensive signage and promotion and talks on sustainability.
we host paperless events where possible or with purchasing guidelines print on sustainable paper up to 100%
catering is all done with vegan sustainable options from our campus dinning group.
We also have in past included transportation options such as carpool, bike valet etc.
Green events is an expanding part of our operation on campus.
Green events also provide use of daylight or green spaces on campus, only held in green buildings, or encouraging recycling, daylighting, and turning off all equipment when done ensure we reducing our footprint.
