The lmu sustainability office hosts with partners over 8 sustainability events a year. We consult with other programs events to certify the green events are happening in regards to criteria of
- 0 waste
- transportation
- signage/education
- energy efficiency
- paper certification or minimization of plastics purchasing.
- sustainability food criteria.
the sustainability office provides this service to any sustainability event and is offered through our office along with green office program. For instance we consulted with athletics to host a sustainable basketball game for women's basketball, another for mens basketball,
For instance we worked with Athletics to host 2 green basketball games to certify them as green lmu sustainable event. What we included was following
- promotion of alternative transportation walking biking
- purchasing of vegan food, sustaianble dining options (veggie dogs), no non compostable items or single use plastics except for bottled beverages which were recycled
- massive deployment of recycling containers, compost containers, and landfill options along with street team to interact with guests
- elimination of paper programs and giveaways to all electronic all print outs on recycled content fsc paper.
- reduction of energy use through messaging, fixtures, solar on roof, and offsets purchased.
