Trained Sustainability Student Workers
A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The sustainability office hires and trains a staff of 16-20 student employees. These student employees come from departments across and are hired specifically to work on sustainability projects. All students are served either directly or indirectly by the students' programs. Students are trained by the sustainability office and attend biweekly meetings where they learn about the sustainability initiatives on campus. They help brainstorm project ideas and participate in events throughout the semester on campus aimed at spreading awareness and educating students, faculty and staff about sustainability on campus.

Sustainable Scot Training
A brief description of the student educators program (2nd program):
This student educators program is a waste sorting training conducted in residence halls and offered to departments. The purpose of the program is to raise awareness of both recycling procedures and the Macalester community's broader commitment to environmental sustainability and justice. With a new curriculum based in environmental justice, the trainers will be having more discussions with first-year students about the impacts of our waste on communities of color and low-income communities. Facilitators are trained during a workshop focused on facilitator skills and presentation content. After being trained, the student educators will meet with groups of first-year students for roughly 1 hour for peer-to-peer education and discussion-based activities. Dirty Trainers present to students on why and how Macalester chooses to sort waste, providing information on what items belong in compost, recycling, trash, or specialty waste bins. Following the presentation, the first-year students play games to test their knowledge.

Campus Climate Coalition
A brief description of the student educators program (3rd program):
This student led organization focused upon student clubs and organizations that are doing work in the sustainability and student organizing space on campus. Students gather to learn about what each other are doing on campus, identify opportunities for collaboration, build relationships, and receive organizing training and instructions. Many of these peer to peer education programs are aimed at the entire student body. They participate in new student orientation and engage in educational events throughout the semester in order reach the entire student population
