McGill Food & Dining Services uses signs and brochures to advertise: - that it serves fair-trade certified coffee (or equivalent) in dining halls across campus and in the majority of retail locations - that it has committed to serving “sustainable fish & seafood” on the menu as of September 1, 2010. - the use and benefits of free-range eggs - the use and benefits of organic grains - various sustainability-themed events, like Meatless Mondays and Local Food Days In addition to signage in the cafeterias, sustainability initiatives are highlighted on napkins in all McGill Food and Dining Services locations.

Physical signage is available on the Alpine Garden site and the Butterfly and Scent Garden, which contribute to local biodiversity of flora and fauna in addition to providing aesthetically pleasing social spaces where members of the community can connect. Online, the MOOSmap provides information about initiatives undertaken in various areas of campus.

Sustainable Walking Map or Tour

The Green (Tree) Tour educates participants on the native tree, bush, and flower species located both on the McGill campus and in the forest of the piedmont (northeast flanc) of Mount Royal. Note: While this walking tour currently focuses solely on flowers, trees, and bushes, plans are in the works to expand it to include a larger variety of sustainability-related topics.

Materials for Cyclists and Pedestrians

McGill distributes Bixi pamphlets (which includes cycling maps of Montreal) and the Safe Cycling Guide during orientation to new students, and works with the local police who provide a free engraving service for bicycles. A Google Map page also provides locations of bicycle racks on the downtown campus.
