McGill does not have a licensing program; however, its Supplier Code of Conduct applies to all of the university's contracted suppliers. Moreover, McGill's Supplier Code of Conduct is to be gradually adopted and used by all of Quebec’s universities.

Moreover, the McGill bookstore, Le James, only does business with clothing manufacturers who are, at a minimum, Fair Labor Association certified. Several suppliers have close relationships with the manufacturers, providing a high level of oversight of fair labour practices at the manufacturing locations.
