An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a program that offers free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to employees and their families who have personal and/or work-related concerns.
Healthy Miami is our commitment to a culture of health and wellness on campus with a wide variety of benefits, healthcare, and wellness programs. Health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, tuition fee waiver, sick and parental leave, paid vacation, and supplemental retirement plans are part of our employee benefits package.
We also offer biometric health screenings and an online health portal to fitness and nutrition programs and health coaching in partnership with TriHealth, Cerner Wellness, and UnitedHealthcare (UMR).
Miami University has partnered with TriHealth to provide on-campus, high-quality care on the Oxford campus at no cost for employees and dependents covered by Miami's health plan. You must provide a photo ID and UMR ID card to receive services at the employee health center.
No-cost Fitness 4 Life programs are offered for all faculty and staff, regardless of benefit eligibility, and spouses covered under Miami's health plan.
Health Coaching
-We offer health coaching at no cost to all Miami employees (full time and part-time, regardless of benefit eligibility) and spouses covered under our health plan. Our wellness staff can conduct this in person, over the phone, and for all groups. Our staff will assist you in developing and/or maintaining healthy lifestyle behaviors. We can meet in small group settings for those who prefer to have the support of others with similar health goals.
Personal Training
-We offer personal training at no cost to all Miami employees (full time and part-time, regardless of benefit eligibility) and spouses covered under our health plan. Personal training sessions are available by appointment only in the Phillips Hall fitness center, room 13. Personal trainers will also be available to meet with small groups.
For Students:
The Office of Student Wellness serves to enhance the community by providing educational resources and services that promote the health and wellness of Miami students. The office coordinates programming initiatives, provides information, raises awareness, and influences policies. The staff includes professionals and peer educators who can assist students on a wide variety of health-related topics as our office strives to provide information and knowledge that will result in healthy choices.
Mission: Miami University's Office of Student Wellness promotes the eight dimensions of wellness through programming and partnership while providing expertise and oversight of university strategic frameworks of alcohol and other drugs, sexual assault, and healthy relationships in order to engage, educate and encourage students to foster a community of personal and social responsibility.
HAWKS Peer Health Educators facilitate wellness programs and staff our educational resource room, which contains brochures and educational materials on a variety of health topics.
The Office of Student Wellness is dedicated to advancing healthy individuals through sexual and relationship education and awareness. Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services responds to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking while cultivating non-violent individuals and community in order to create an environment of safety, respect, and inclusion. The Miami University Student Counseling Service provides primary (interventions which educate/protect individuals in order to avoid problems prior to the development of signs or symptoms of problems), secondary (interventions which identify persons in the early stages of problem behaviors and attempt to avert the ensuing negative consequences by inducing them to cease their problem behavior through counseling or treatment), and tertiary (interventions which strive to end problem behavior and/or to ameliorate their negative effects through treatment and rehabilitation) level mental health interventions.
