A brief description of the open access repository:
The Scholarly Commons is Miami University's digital repository for scholarly work created by faculty, students, and staff. By offering a central location for depositing research or other scholarly work (including datasets, working papers, pre-publication scholarship, and published papers), the Scholarly Commons makes research available to a wider audience, helps ensure its long-term preservation, and can be used to fulfill grant-funded mandates such as those from NSF and NIH. The Scholarly Commons is built using DSpace, the software of choice for academic, non-profit, and commercial organizations building open digital repositories. DSpace has over 1,000 organizations worldwide using it for production or project environments.

Does the institution provide an open access article processing charge (APC) fund for employees?:
Yes

A brief description of the open access APC fund:
The Publication, Reprint, Exhibition, and Performance Costs (PREP) Program is a competitive program that provides up to $500 toward journal page charges, book publication, article or book chapter reprint costs, exhibition or competition costs, and performance or composition costs incurred by continuing tenure-eligible or tenured faculty members (including librarians). No faculty member may receive more than $500 in this program in any academic year and awarded funds must be spent directly from the university internal account.

In addition, as a member of the OhioLink library consortium, Miami has recently (Jan 2022) entered into a cost-neutral agreement with Cambridge University Press that as a component of our journal subscription package, will allow OhioLink-affiliated authors in Open Access Cambridge research journals to have author publication charges waived. OhioLink is actively working with other publishing partners to seek additional, sustainable opportunities for such "Read and Publish" arrangements with other Open Access publications.

A brief description of the open access journal hosting services:
We use the Open Journal Systems (OJS) to host OA journals. OJS is a full featured open source software application for managing and publishing peer reviewed scholarly journals. OJS is the most widely used open-source journal publishing platform in existence, with over 10,000 journals using it worldwide.
