the SDA+P : Sustainable development ambassadors program

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The 1st edition of the Sustainable Development Ambassadors’ Program (SDA+P) is officially launched in June 2020 by the Sustainable Development Department in collaboration with the Students Empowerment Office, by selecting 22 ambassadors who will be representing the schools and programs of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University throughout the academic year 2020 – 2021.

The UM6P Sustainable Development Department launched a call for application to the SDA+P. The 22 students were selected based on their activism on campus, their motivation and their answers on the call for participation.

These ambassadors benefited from a training about sustainable development components, the 2030 agenda for sustainable development goals and the sustainability aspects at the Campus by Pr. Eric Bauce from LAVAL University - QUEBEC. This training aimed at enhancing the capacities of these students and empowering them to train their peers, lead actions, initiate sustainable campaigns and animate discussions around sustainability.

The UM6P Sustainable Development Department tracks and follows up with each ambassador the future actions and initiatives by providing funding and guidance, and setting up a periodic meeting with all ambassadors to share experiences and inspire others.

This program, intended exclusively for UM6P students, is allowing them to:
• Reinforce their commitment towards Sustainable Development and its SDGs
• Promote their active participation and practice as a learning methodology
• Implement their own initiatives throughout their training
• Get inspired by the philosophy of Sustainable Development on the job market and act as proud ambassadors of UM6P and its values.

Each school/program is represented by two or more ambassadors and they are currently:
• Mentoring their peers through training and peer-group learning,
• Increasing awareness of sustainability,
• Encouraging students’ engagement with sustainability,
• Creating innovative projects and organizing events around sustainable development with their peers,
• Slowly but steadily, becoming a role model of sustainability leadership on the campus.”

• Sustainable Development Workshops
• Soft skills workshops
