Mohawk College's Stragetic Plan commits to graduates with sustainability competencies by incorporating 1st year sustainability learning outcomes into their programs. Mohawk College also has a Sustainability Commitment: Mohawk College is committed to long term economic, social and environmental resilience of our college and community through education, research and governance.

Moahwk College also has five institutional learning outcomes that differentiate out graduates, providing them with the skills needed to be successful in any job:

Responsible Citizens
Mohawk Graduates will apply personal, professional and social practices to promote physical, economic, mental and emotional well-being as well as foster civic engagement.

Collaborators
Mohawk Graduates will collaborate productively across networks to enhance knowledge, generate innovative ideas, resolve challenges and respond to change.

Communicators

A brief description of how the figure above was determined:
Graduates for the for AY2020-21 were totalled across all programs.Programs with a program-level sustainable learning outcome were isolated from the Course Inventory, and cross-referenced with graduates of those programs for the specified period. In addition, graduates from programs with at least one mandatory sustainability-focused course were counted towards the total above.

A list of degree programs that require an understanding of the concept of sustainability:
There are many programs at Mohawk College that contain either learning outcomes that explicitly state sustainability or collectively address sustainability as an integrated concept at the program level . Here are a few examples:

Architectural Technician
- Identify sustainable design and building practices.

Biotechnology
- Complete all tasks in compliance with pertinent legislations, as well as biotechnology standards and guidelines.
- Apply best practices for susainability

Chemical Engineering Technology
- Apply best practices of sustainability
- Ensure that all assigned work is performed in compliance with relevant occupational health, safety, and environmental law, legislation, and regulations; established policies and procedures; and in accordance with ethical principles.

Civil engineering Technician
- Comply with workplace health and safety practices and procedures in accordance with current legislation and regulations.
- Complete duties and assist in monitoring that work is performed in compliance with contractual obligations, applicable laws, standards, bylaws, codes and ethical practices in the civil engineering field.
- Carry out sustainable practices in accordance with contract documents, industry standards and environmental legislative requirements.

Environmental Technician
- Assist with analysis of water/soil/air samples and with the resolution of environmental problems through the application of scientific and engineering principles.
- Follow standard procedures for conducting environmental sampling projects including the use of appropriate equipment and materials
- Promote and maintain sustainable practices by applying the elements of ecosystem-based management.
- Complete assigned tasks in adherence to occupational health and safety standards and applicable legislative requirements.
- Follow established protocols in support of environmental management systems.

Advertising and Marketing Communications Management
- Develop advertising and marketing communications material in compliance with current Canadian legislation, industry standards and business practices.
- Complete all work in a professional, ethical and timely manner.
- Incorporate concepts of social, environmental and economic sustainability* in the development of advertising and marketing communications* strategies and dayto-day work

Business
- Apply principles of corporate sustainability, corporate social responsibility and ethics to support an organization's business initiatives
- Recognize the economic, social, political, and cultural variables which impact on a business.

Tourism
- Respond to issues and dilemmas arising in the delivery of tourism products, services and customer experiences by using and promoting ethical behaviour and best practices of corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

Graphic Design
- Complete all work in a professional and ethical manner, and in accordance with all applicable legislation and regulations.
- Engage in sustainable practices which benefit the industry, the environment and society (e.g., reducing carbon footprints, promoting social responsibility, pro bono/community work, etc.)
- Recognized industry practices throughout the design process and related business tasks and contribute to a fair, equitable and sustainable work environment in a manner that meets industry expectations and upholds the standards established by the agency, company or organization.
