Research Inventory
Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:
Research inventory is attached above.
A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The MSU Office of Sustainability (OS) worked with the Office of Planning and Analysis (OPA) to determine the total number of researchers at the university. The OS received a data report from OPA that included all of the research that was conducted in the last year. The OS then sorted through the data report and deleted duplicate faculty emails to determine that the total number of unique researchers is 758. The OS staff then reviewed each of those 758 researchers to determine which had research interests and reports that are related to sustainability. Sustainability as we understand it encompasses environmental, social and economic well-being. Academic Analytics provided an in-depth report of sustainability-focused and related research activities that was cross-referenced against our internal documents.
Additionally, faculty members at MSU are given the opportunity to self-select their research as “sustainability related” when completing their Activity Insight information. A total of 22 faculty members self reported having done sustainability research. Those faculty are reflected in the research inventory.
