A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
This survey was developed and implemented by a combined effort between the Office of Sustainability and the Western Transportation Institute. A total of representative sample of 330 students were surveyed, including international, graduate, and undergraduate students. Students were asked to specify their primary mode of transportation to and from campus throughout the year. Additional information was gathered, such as distance of commute and secondary mode of transport.

This survey was developed and implemented by a combined effort between the Office of Sustainability and the Western Transportation Institute. A representative sample of 334 employees, including faculty and staff. Employees were asked to specify their primary mode of transportation to and from campus throughout the year. Additional information was gathered, such as distance of commute and secondary mode of transport.
