A brief description of the assessment process and the framework, scorecard(s) and/or tool(s) used:
2020-2021 MSU Diversity Report: The MSU Diversity Report is an overview of the efforts MSU’s vibrant and engaged community has undertaken to advance our diversity and inclusion goals outlined in our Diversity and Inclusion Framework Report, which continues to direct our actions and is embedded in MSU’s strategic plan “Choosing Promise.” The diversity and inclusion goals we have set as a university require intentional and sustained action by all members of the MSU community. Work is being organized within departments, student clubs, individual units, and through strategic campus collaborations. This report does not provide a comprehensive review of the diversity and inclusion initiatives taking place at MSU. Rather, it is meant to provide a snapshot of the accomplishments that, together, move us toward our goals.

Does the assessment process address campus climate by engaging stakeholders to assess the attitudes, perceptions and behaviors of employees and students, including the experiences of underrepresented groups?:
Yes

Does the assessment process address student outcomes related to diversity, equity and success?:
Yes

Does the assessment process address employee outcomes related to diversity and equity?:
Yes

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
Our most recent assessment highlighted gaps in our campus climate for those who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, and people with disabilities. These results have been used to identify strategies for developing stronger support networks, community building mechanisms, and addressing policies that impact students, faculty, and staff with these identities. The findings have been directly used to improve LGBTQ inclusion across campus, providing the data to support the need for new programs and conversations. We have also launched a BIPOC action plan to improve campus climate for students of color, and the results of the climate survey have been useful in providing quantitative evidence of student identities, experiences, and perceptions.

Are the results of the most recent structured diversity and equity assessment shared with the campus community?:
Yes

A brief description of how the assessment results are shared with the campus community:
The results are shared through in-person events, focus groups, affinity-type events, written and online reports, and presentations to various leadership and constituent groups.
