The charter or mission statement of the committee(s) or a brief description of each committee's purview and activities:
The creation of an institutional culture of sustainability, the promotion of best practices and the dissemination of resources within the community, are at the core of our mission. Our overarching goal is to foster environmentally, socially and economically responsible citizens.

The Mount Royal Sustainability Committee (MRUSC) facilitates and promotes professional development, education and the coordination of expertise to strategically position Mount Royal University as a sustainable institution. We support and encourage collaborative research in this field among faculty, students and staff, as well as the dissemination of methods and findings.

MRUSC encourages the inclusion of sustainability principles and content into existing and new courses, this includes integrating projects and assignments into coursework campus-wide, the promotion of related learning opportunities and the encouragement of sustainable learning and teaching methods.

The Institute for Environmental Sustainability at Mount Royal University focuses on three key pillars:
1) Research and Scholarship - the IES encourages and supports research and scholarship across all disciplines in the area of environmental sustainability including theory, practice and policy.
2) Learning - As part of an undergraduate focused university, the Institute is committed to supporting the student learning experience.
3) Engagement - The IES is keen to collaborate with organizations within and outside Mount Royal University on issues of sustainability.
