Yes
A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
The Department of Civic Education and Leadership led the students to sail around Penghu Island by ocean canoe in 10 days with a 130-kilometers long voyage.
In this immersive experience, students learn to incorporate ecological and cultural literacy into their voyages, such as the sustainability of natural systems, resource management, cultural awareness, multiculturalism, and cross-cultural coping skills that must be considered. By planning and management of ecological conservation, people can continue to enjoy environmental heritage in the future . At the same time, students must also learn to perceive the health of environmental systems and take corresponding measures to maintain, to repair or to improve them.
During the navigation, students learned more about environmental issues of the ocean and the island, and learned to interact with the ocean in a safe and friendly way. This activity also incorporated leadership training, problem solving skills, safety risk management and medical first aid courses. When the team finally stayed on Jibei Island, a peripheral small island in northern Penghu, they contacted the local church and invited 18 children participating in canoe activity. By this, children can connect with the ocean and be inspired with imagination.
