A brief description of the incentive program(s):
The Office of Academic Affairs has been encouraging faculty to innovate the course teaching by offering small funds. Some courses sponsored by this fund are new sustainability-focused courses and some bring sustainability into classes. With the emphasis on sustainability education in NTHU from 2020, the Office of Academic Affairs plans to provide incentives to encourage departments to develop new sustainability-focused courses in the 2021 fall semester. The office also prioritizes the “Teachers’ Community” and “Curriculum and Teaching Innovation Mini- Project” whose topics are in line with sustainability and give priority to support sustainability-focused or sustainability-inclusive courses.
A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:
The Center for Teaching and Learning Development is to help faculty achieve excellence in teaching and also strive to create a more innovative and vivid learning environment through workshops, consultations, the incorporation of technology into teaching, and, additionally, through research on curriculum reform.
Funding for Teachers’ Community:
To enhance the quality of education, the center provides funding for the Teachers' Community, which encourages faculty to engage in professional research and design of more effective teaching strategies—funding up to a maximum amount of NT$20,000.
Curriculum and Teaching Innovation Mini- Project:
Funding up to a maximum amount of NT$10,000 is available to facilitate the creation of innovative curriculum.
