A brief description of the program:
The Pack-N-Go Sale is an initiative by Waste Reduction and Recycling (WRR) and University Housing to reduce the amount of waste generated from move out week. Items are collected from all residence halls through large donation boxes in the common area of each building. The collected items are then compiled, sorted and organized in preparation for a huge sale held at E.S. King Village for the campus and surrounding communities.
The success of this year's sale depends heavily on the effort and involvement of everyone on campus. WRR reminds students to set aside all re-usable items in their residence hall's designated Pack N Go container during move-out. Additional areas for furniture and other heavy items have also been marked of near the outside dumpster, elimating the need to lift these heavy objects and helping to reduce the amount of waste our campus sends to the landfill.
Typical items students donate through the move-out process are furniture, electronics, some small home goods and a ton of clothing and shoes and miscellaneous items. Thus spawning the Wolf Pack N Go Sale four year ago.
Arrangements will be made for all unsold items. Last year, nearly half a ton of food donations were collected for the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
