A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
Building Future Faculty Program: This is a professional development workshop for graduate students and
postdocs who are preparing for a faculty career and who have the potential to increase faculty diversity. Diverse
graduate students and postdocs are invited from institutions across the country to visit NC State for this four-day
all-expenses paid workshop each spring. The workshop provides information on what to expect as a faculty
member at a research extensive university, how to prepare, and provides an opportunity to meet one-on-one with
faculty in their discipline.
ADVANCE Developing Diverse Departments project: The mission of Developing Diverse Departments is to
spark a shift in attitudes toward a diverse and inclusive climate and create paths of diffusion and discussion of
these ideas throughout the NC State faculty.
