A brief description of the program(s), including positive outcomes during the previous three years:
The Office of Faculty Development's Sustainability in Teaching and Practice Academy allows participants the space and time to develop an understanding of how to introduce sustainability into teaching, research or practice. With up to 65% of incoming students stating NC State’s sustainability commitment was an influencer in their decision to attend our university, this academy will allow participants to learn from sustainability and teaching experts to address a strong area of interest for students. Attendees will be able to identify a social, environmental and economic sustainability issue and develop a course revision or project to address the issue. Participants will be exposed to activities, ideas and partnerships that make sustainability learning interactive. Attendees will be part of a growing network of sustainability champions at NC State.
Within the Poole College of Management, the Business Sustainability Collaborative (BSC) works with faculty across departments to provide tools and resources to integrate sustainability into undergraduate and graduate business courses. These teaching tools and resources can include relevant books, sources for cases, access to webinars, and funding opportunities through the BSC grant program. The BSC provides funding to support curriculum development (up to $5,000) and research projects (up to $25,000) for faculty with a majority appointment in the Poole College of Management.
