A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed:
All campus entities must purchase a minimum of 80% of their laptop and desktop computers through the consolidated IT purchasing program. The consolidated IT purchasing program was legislatively mandated and the task group convened to carry out the program included the requirement to purchase environmentally friendly models as part of the specifications it drew up. To be eligible for inclusion, all computers included in the program must meet EPEAT Gold standards. A campus governance structure was put into place to review computer purchases and approve exceptions when necessary. The purchasing department notifies the Chief Information Officer and Chief Financial Officer as well as individual units at least annually with whether purchases are meeting the standards and goals of the program. At this time the program does not include Apple computers, however, all Apple computers meet EPEAT Gold standards.
