A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
The NC State University Employee Commute Survey presents the results of a May 2013 survey of 1,267 commuters who travel to any of three campuses of NC State in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina. NC State is one of several “local service providers” that offer commute assistance services funded by the Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG). This survey was conducted to define the commute travel patterns of NC State employees. Additionally, the survey results will be used to develop travel assistance services that could make it easier to travel to NC State and around the Triangle region. To this end, the survey collected data on employees’ awareness and use of travel assistance services offered by regional commute assistance organizations and by NC State and their interest in other services that could be offered.
