The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) is committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and diverse intellectual and cultural campus experience related to the mission of North Carolina State University (NC State). The OIED facilitates efforts to ensure equity and opportunity, increases awareness of diversity issues through education, and strengthens relationships across diverse groups. Through these efforts, the OIED promotes cultural competence development, thereby fostering a welcoming and respectful campus. By providing guidance, programming, and outreach to constituent groups and the community, and by adhering to accountability and compliance standards, the OIED prepares NC State students, faculty, and staff for local, state, national, and global collaboration.

The University Diversity Advisory Committee is another active example at NC State. Their function is to advise the Provost, Executive Vice Chancellor, and Vice Provost on all diversity matters for the university. They also translate the diversity strategic plan into college-specific action plans that support and enhance an inclusive university environment.

A brief description of the institution’s cultural competence, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and/or social inclusion trainings and activities:
The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity offers a variety of trainings, some of which are tailored to specific university stakeholders. For university leadership and instructors of record, there is DiversityEdu, which is an online course focusing on engaging with diversity and growing inclusive culture. Staff, graduate and professional students can take a training that includes two modules called "Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace" and "Managing Bias." Undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Students," which equips learners with the information and skills necessary to create a respectful and welcoming environment for everyone. Key topics include identity, selfhood, imposter syndrome, identity transitions, power, privilege, oppression, bias, respect, allyship and self-care.
