A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
NSC requires an orientation from all of its students. Some programs have their own version, but the primary one, called START Orientation, is available to all and includes a sustainability focus. The in-person orientation includes a campus tour that makes a visit to the Sustainability Office where students are familiarized with sustainability aspects on campus. Some of these features include highlights from its two LEED certified buildings, the solar energy roof on one building, the P-Patch plot, and an overview of waste practices while at North. The online orientation also provides a sustainability overview on its campus life page. All International Program students receive an interactive presentation from student leadership & multicultural programs and the sustainability office, so become verse on opportunities to get involved on sustainability projects and understand the waste streams at NSC.
