A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
Seattle Colleges Transportation Management team conducts a district-wide student transportation survey annually, which includes NSC. At North Seattle College, over 890 students responded to the December 2019 electronic survey about their transportation choices. This sample was taken as representative of the full student body and the numbers were extrapolated accordingly. Students who indicated that their normal commute mode was bike, bus, carpool/vanpool, motorcycle/scooter, rail, walk, multi-modal, or walk on ferry were considered sustainable commuting.

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
Every two years North Seattle conducts an employee Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) survey for the Washington State Department of Transportation. Most recent CTR for North Seattle was 11/9/2019. Response rate was 60%. The online survey is sent to all employees and is promoted by the Transportation Office.
