A brief description of the independent monitoring and verification organization:
In 2023, Northern Arizona University (NAU) joined the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC), an independent labor rights monitoring organization. The WRC investigates global factory working conditions, combats sweatshop practices, and protects worker rights in the apparel industry. This partnership allows NAU to enforce binding labor standards, ensuring the ethical production of university-branded apparel and goods. WRC's extensive global network conducts worker-centered investigations, supports workers, and advocates for enforceable private agreements with multinational corporations to improve labor conditions. Founded in 2000, the WRC collaborates with universities, students, and government entities to uphold human rights standards.
