EcoReps
A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
EcoReps serves roughly 4800 students annually. NMU enrollment (as of Fall 2019) is 7732 students (https://www.nmu.edu/institutionalresearch/enrollment-factbook). For a more than 60% engagement reach on campus. More than 40 EcoReps work an average of 3600 hours per year (hourly requirement is 50 hours per semester, internship requirement hours are 100-200 hours per semester, and then hours are generated working campus and community events such as orientation, zero waste games and sustainability and bike week, etc.).
A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
EcoReps is a student sustainability peer-to-peer education program. It is designed to give students the resources and knowledge to solve environmental, economic and social sustainability issues. Reps function as the student branch of the Sustainability Advisory Council, and work together to organize campus-wide programming (e.g., Mend it Monday, Clothing Swaps, Bike Tune-ups, Sustainability Week, Bike Week, Residence Hall Workshops), carry out collaborative projects (partner with Goodwill, Local Foods, Ice Climbing Festival, etc.), and represent the program at various on and off-campus events (e.g., Fresh Coast Film Fest, Climate March, Local Food Festival, etc). Reps are introduced to new topics, help plan activities and implement actions that improve sustainability on campus and in the community.
