OCUSP has 4 primary activities:

- Networking for Sustainability Professionals

- Sharing of ideas and best practices between institutions

- Monitoring the environmental performance of institutions

- Advocating for collective action and policy positions for sustainability related issues in post secondary education in Ontario.


Who are our members

Our members consist of University and College professionals representing the majority of academic institutions in Ontario. All members have job duties that are directly or indirectly relevant to sustainability on a post-secondary campus.

OCUSP annually hosts a multi-day AGM with keynote speakers and conference sessions to address the pressing issues and priorities faced by sustainability officers in higher ed.

Regular (monthly) learning opportunities are hosted online, such as lunch n learns on topics such as on zero carbon buildings, and a decolonizing sustainability series.

OCAD U served on the Board of Ontario College and University Sustainability Professionals from 2020-2022.

OCAD U also served on a committee of Toronto universities providing climate-related research and recommendations to the City of Toronto.

A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:
OCAD U and California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) have a mutually supportive relationship that began with OCAD U providing CSUMB mentorship towards integrating equity and sustainability. The relationship has continued towards bi-monthly calls to discuss emerging issues and opportunities.
