The mandate of the Presidential Taskforce for the Underrepresentation of Racialized Staff and Faculty is to raise the percentage of racialized and Indigenous employees in all areas and at all levels of the University, and in doing so also seek to increase diversity in the curriculum.
The goal of the action plan is an OCAD University in which the demographics of staff, faculty and administrators better represent the diverse students who make up our community and our international networks. The action plan will
provide a work environment and culture which will foster equity, collaboration and result in a breadth of cultural knowledge and creative expression.
The ongoing implementation of the Task Force Report and Recommendations includes recent outcomes such as the ongoing collection and analysis of workforce population data, the 2023 creation of faculty/staff lounges, the 2023 hiring of a staff to advance OCAD U's Scarborough Charter commitments to address anti-Black racism and to promote Black inclusion (https://www.ocadu.ca/news/ocad-u-signs-historic-scarborough-charter-anti-black-racism), and the reflection of institutional equity commitments in job postings, including the prioritization of equity-seeking groups.
