Metric used in scoring for Part 2

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.02 MtCO2e per square meter

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:
In 2018, OCAD developed a Conservation and Demand Management Plan (CDMP), with the support of a consultant (Footprint for Sustainability), and is now a few years into implementation. The CDMP identified measures to reduce energy and GHGs and targeted reducing Scope 1 and 2 GHGs by an average of 63% across the properties owned by OCAD and 86% by 2050. Some of the initiatives that have been implemented in the past few years are:

-approximately 30% of the lighting has been upgraded by replacing fluorescent with LED (30% more scheduled for 2023-24)
-occupancy sensors installed with all lighting upgrades
-single glazed windows replaced with more efficient windows (south facade) in 2022 (east and west scheduled for 2024)

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
2016 staff FTE was unavailable and therefore the 2022 staff FTE figure was used, assuming stable staffing complement levels.

Gross floor area of building space in OP 2 is slightly lower than the figure used in PRE-5. For OP 2, we reported only on the buildings for which OCAD U has access to utilities/GHGs emissions data.

Whereas PRE-5 reflects the gross floor area of building space includes buildings for which OCAD U owns and leases(regardless of availability of utilities data): 100 McCaul; 115 McCaul; 199 Richmond St. W.; 205 Richmond St. W.; 210 Simcoe St Units 301, 302, 303; 130 Queen Quay E, Floor 4R; 230 Richmond St. W.; 51 McCaul St.; 49 McCaul St.; 113 McCaul St.

OP 2 only reflects gross floor area of buildings iwth available utilities data: 100 McCaul, 205 Richmond, 199 Richmond, 130 Queens Quay, and 210 Simcoe.
