Optional Fields

A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
The diversion data above is only from tracked diversion (2 LEED projects and Campus Recycling building purges prior to construction). C&D materials are recycled whenever not cost prohibitive for construction projects, so tracked data is an underestimate.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Diversion data above is only from C&DD diversion for the Ellis and Sook Hall LEED projects during FY19 and building purges of demolition projects (Atkinson, Armbruster, Smith, and Ridges 20).

Total waste data was estimated by:
1) determining average total CD&D waste per square foot from former LEED projects at Ohio University (44.94 lb/sq ft for renovations; 11.8 lb/sq ft for new builds) and using a published estimate for non-residential demolition (158 lb/sq ft; https://www.epa.gov/sites/default/files/2017-09/documents/estimating2003buildingrelatedcanddmaterialsamounts.pdf)
2) estimating sq ft of project space for all large non-utility construction or demolition projects during FY19
3) multiplying average total waste/sq ft by project sq ft
4) summing all FY19 large non-utility project waste to get large project waste
5) multiplying by 2 to estimate total including small and utility projects.
