A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
“Pay it Forward” Campaign
Lighting accounts for 35% of our total electrical consumption. While we improve efficiency and lighting control strategies, we often overlook that nothing is more efficient than all of us turning off the lights – all the time. In order to shift the responsibility from the institution to it’s users, we created a “Pay it Forward” campaign.
The concept is basic. When we see an empty space with the lights on, We turn off the light and tape a green laminated sign to the door explain that we turned off their light and then challenge them find another offending space to stick the sign.
