A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate, including efforts made during the previous three years:
Waste Wise program initiated in 2014. Posters are located across campus and around garbage and recycling bins. Waste audits are also done to monitor where improvements can be made. UOIT has a battery recycling program across campus. UOIT has a writing utensil program across campus. The Blue Team participates in Shoreline Clean Ups in September to reduce garbage and recyclables from entering our water systems.

Campus Holiday Food Drive runs from November to December. UOIT also promotes local food banks that students can donate to.
