As Behrend hired its first Sustainability Coordinator in January 2019, the year prior has typically been used as the baseline year. Here 2016 data was readily available and thus used for our baseline.

The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for the development and implementation of environmental and occupational health and safety programs throughout Penn State's multi-campus system. EHS has five areas of responsibility: Environmental Protection, Laboratory and Research Safety, Workplace Safety, Radiation Protection and Hazardous Materials. Additional information about each of these areas can be found at the web link below.
The University Safety Council is comprised of members representing academic colleges and administrative units. These representatives, commonly referred to as "Safety Officers", are responsible for developing and implementing, under the guidance of the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, a comprehensive and practical occupational health and safety program, and maintaining an environment that is conducive to the safety, health and well-being of the University community.
