The EDDEC institute (Institute for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Circular Economy) organizes an annual competition for scholarships for environment, sustainable development and circular economy projects. This competition is for undergraduate and graduate students coming from the three founding institutions of the EDDEC institute (Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and HEC Montréal). The purpose is to promote multidisciplinary research in these areas.
Nine scholarships were awarded in April 2016, representing a total amount of 60000$. 4 students from Polytechnique are amongst the selected students.

A brief description of the faculty research program, including the incentives provided and any positive outcomes during the previous three years:
Faculty staff members of the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Opérationnalisation du Développement Durable (CIRODD, Interdisciplinary Research Centre on the Operationalization of Sustainable Development), a research center based in Polytechnique Montréal in which 11 other Quebec universities are members, can apply for 5000$ grants. This grant program aims to support research in sustainable development related research themes by funding :
- the establishment of new multidisciplinary and intersectional collaborations on topics related to the operationalization of sustainable development;
- the implementation of pilot projects or the creation of working groups intended to generate preliminary data to facilitate the obtention of research grants from funding agencies;
- the transfer of knowledge and know-how from research to industry, government departments and other public and parapublic organizations.

Polytechnique's library has developped a guidance document to help faculty and students conduct literature research on environmental engineering and water related topics. These guides are available on the library website: http://guides.biblio.polymtl.ca/index.php
A guidance document focusing specifically about sustainable engineering is presently being developed. It should be available at the beginning of July 2016. While preparing that guide, Polytechnique's library hosted an exhibition about sustainable development in February 2016 and issued a list of books on sustainability available for loan : http://www.polymtl.ca/biblio/en/actualites/le-d%C3%A9veloppement-durable-en-vedette
