In the Déclaration des droits et responsabilités des étudiants de Polytechnique Montréal (Declaration of Polytechnique Montréal Students' Rights and Responsibilities) there is an official statement :
"Students have the right to be in a quality environment and have the right to be in relationship with members of the Polytechnique community free from harassment and discrimination based on race, color, ethnic or national origin, marital status, religion, political convictions, language, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, social status (including family responsibilities), sickness, disability or use of a tool to palliate a handicap."
There is also a "Règlement contre le harcèlement" (Regulation against harassment) that applies to the entire community (students and employees).

Students can have support from the Registrariat or the Service aux Étudiants de Polytechnique (Polytechnique Students Services) for every situation. The regulation against harassment describes the procedure to file a complaint, for both students and employees.

As women represent only 26% of students enrolled in the Winter 2016 term, they are considered as an underreprensented group at Polytechnique. Polytechnique strongly advocates for increasing women's role in engineering and this commitment was made even firmer since the tragedy of December 6, 1989 where 14 women were killed. To encourage women in pursuing graduate studies, Polytechnique participates in events such as "Des filles et des sciences, un duo electrisant" (Girls and sciences, an electrifying team) to promote engineering studies for girls in schools. Polytechnique also offers one scholarship to a woman though its "Bourse de l'ordre de la rose blanche" (Order of the white rose scholarship; http://www.polymtl.ca/aide-financiere/bourses/bourse-de-lordre-de-la-rose-blanche). It also hosts a research chair to promote women in engineering (Chaire Marianne-Marechal; http://chairemm.polymtl.ca/index.php).
Polytechnique Montréal endorses an equal access and an equity employment programs for women, aboriginal people, visible and ethnic minority and people with disabilities.

Polytechnique is firmly committed to the promotion of women in engineering. It hosts a research chair to promote women in engineering (Chaire Marianne-Mareschal http://chairemm.polymtl.ca/index.php). This chair provides mentoring and counseling.
