A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
Polytechnique Montréal is committed to making efforts to reduce the share of solo drivers. These efforts are presented in the 2017-2018 Sustainable Transportation Action Plan, produced as part of a pilot project by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. The process was coordinated by Polytechnique's Sustainable Development Office. The first step of the project was to assess the Polytechnique community's commuting practices. In the spring of 2017, Polytechnique Montréal established its organizational mobility diagnosis. The data used came from the analysis of postal codes of all members of the community as well as the results of a survey. The rate of response of this survey, conducted in April 2017, was 30% for employees and 17% for students.
