Pre-project Extensive Sustainable Development Study for Expansion of the J-Armand-Bombardier Building and Renovation of freed-up spaces in the Main Building
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Polytechnique Campus Development Management team worked with several consultants on an extensive study on the integration of sustainable development in the new major construction projects to come (Expansion of the J-Armand-Bombardier Building and renovation of freed-up spaces in the Main Building) by a certification approach alongside the design approach. 9 different certifications (some multiple attibute, some single-attribute) were studied for the project to integrate the best sustainability practices and measures on various levels. This study was perfomed to detemine which certifications Polytechnique should apply for and which measures or best practices (inside or outside of certifications) will be implemented into the project to make sure to develop and implement an exemplary project.
The approach was done by workshops inviting multiple stakeholders; among them there were representatives of several services and offices from within the institution and specialized consultants in various fields. Over 30 persons where present during each workshop.
