Polytechnique Montréal is committed to making efforts to reduce the share of solo drivers. These efforts are presented in the 2017-2018 Sustainable Transportation Action Plan, produced as part of a pilot project by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. The process was coordinated by Polytechnique's Sustainable Development Office.
The first step of the project was to assess the Polytechnique community's commuting practices. In the spring of 2017, Polytechnique Montréal established its organizational mobility diagnosis. The data used came from the analysis of postal codes of all members of the community as well as the results of a survey. The rate of response of this survey, conducted in April 2017, was 30% for employees and 17% for students.

For this section, we are using the flexibility offered by AASHE for STARS reporting and are submitting the last data available which is from the April 2017 survey, therefore within the previous 6 years. During Fall 2021, Polytechnique of Montreal participated in a survey on mobility in Montréal. The data have not yet been made available to the public neither to the participating institutions.
Please note that the 2017 survey didn't enquire about motorcycle use, but it did include multimodal transportation, so there are an additional 6% of students who use various commuting modes. Furthermore, the survey did not distinguish between zero emission vehicles and regular vehicles.
