A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The Purdue Center for the Environment (C4E) keeps a list of active researchers on campus that are affiliated with sustainability through multiple affiliate centers:
- Center for the Environment
- Center for Global Food Security
- Purdue Climate Change Research Center
The C4E created this list reaching out to researchers across campus via a survey to determine their information regarding your research interests, Institute affiliations, and your social media handles so that university can provide a robust directory about the researchers and their work. The C4E then evaluates the responses to vet the response before adding the names to the affiliates list (see URL).
The Purdue Sustainability team was able to identify a very small number of researchers engaged in sustainability research that had not joined the list of affiliates with the C4E. These researchers were vetted against the requirements of AC9 and added to the submitted list.
For the calculation of researchers on campus, the Purdue Sustainability team worked with the Administration Operations Integrated Analytics team to determine the number of Tenure, Tenure Track, Research, Post Doc, and Interns, which was used to determine the number of academic staff for whom research is considered in promotion and/or tenure decisions.
Note: since the completion of this credit, the three affiliate groups listed above have joined together to form the Purdue Institute for a Sustainable Future. This group is currently working to transition their website and to reflect membership, revamp the faculty directory and increase their social media engagement. To this end, they are actively using a new survey to update research affiliates.
