A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
Radford University Faculty are asked to enter all research and scholarship activity electronically through "Activity Insight". Activity Insight is an online software tool designed to help faculty members collect, organize, and display their data for the purposes of annual reviews, promotion and tenure, and more. It is aimed at providing an easier, more efficient way for colleges and campuses to manage large reporting processes in a less time-consuming fashion.
The Sustainability Office worked with the Assistant Provost of Academic Affairs to search several key words associated with sustainability and global sustainability goals. The searches returned a large data set that was then sorted through, deleting all research that is not sustainability focused or related. Keyword searches included: Sustainability, Sustainable Development, Global Issues, Environment, Diversity, and Social Justice.
Faculty are encouraged, but not required to enter data here, so this list is not exhaustive, but is the best, most accurate account we have of this data.
The Sustainability Office also collaborated with the Office of the Provost to inquire directly with departments to collect information on sustainability in curriculum and research. Several departments returned an inventory.
