A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, special (e.g. coal ash), universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
These types of waste are collected in two highly-controlled locations on campus. Most hazardous and medical waste is generated by our chemistry, nursince, and hematology programs as part of the curriculum. RVCC has adopted an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) policy under which we do not use chemicals for insects, weeds, fields or landscaping unless less-toxic alternatives have been exhausted and there is a clear risk to health or facilities. This policy reduces the amount of hazardous materials on campus.

A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
Hazardous chemicals are inventoried and placed in recorded locations on secure shelving in a locked room. The room has controlled exterior access with surveillance cameras monitored by campus security. The facility and records are inspected regularly by NJ DEP. Chemical and medical waste is disposed of by a certified third party.
