A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
After an excessive amount of "to-go" containers were observed in waste containers in classrooms and hallways of campus buildings, the sustainability coordinator worked with the director of dining services to get rid of to get rid of these containers and replace them with a reusable plastic container. Containers are purchased from the cashier in the dining hall. If a student/faculty or staff wishes to get food "to go" from the dining hall, they must have one of these containers. Containers can be exchanged for a clean container at the cashier in the dining hall, eliminating problems with cleaning these containers in residence hall rooms or offices. This program has been extremely successful and every day eliminates 100s of disposable containers from our waste stream.
