Saint Joseph's College has a robust Wellness Program that is comprehensive of the "wellness wheel"--physical, financial, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social and environmental. All categories are represented throughout the year in the form of activities such as learning programs, fitness, educational seminars, community gatherings, etc. The opportunities are open and available to all faculty, staff, and students; easily the majority of programs are free while others may "cost" a donation of a food item to Catherine's Cupboard or a minimal entry fee.
The Assistant Director, Campus Recreation/Wellness, is responsible for the annual planning and execution of activities and partners closely with the College's health insurance provider, CIGNA. Employees of the College can earn wellness credits towards their HSA accounts for participating in a variety of activities and programs. The Assistant Director meets with CIGNA on a regular basis to identify new offerings and determine what are best programs to offer at the College.
Students have the benefit of a full scope Campus Recreation department and can participate in a variety of organized sports, intramural, social events, recreational and services related trips, creative art events, and intellectual learning opportunities outside the classroom in the form of special lectures and guest speakers from around the world.
An onsite Counseling Center and Health Services Center are available to full and part time students as well and address a broad scope of needs ranging from mental health related issues to physical well being. Both centers offer care provided by licensed, professional staff and the hours of operation are Monday through Friday with options available during weekend hours. The Counseling Center services are free of charge to students; Health Services visits are covered by students enrolled in their parents/legal guardian's health insurance plan or the Saint Joseph's Student Health Insurance Program.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides employees and members of their household with access to a broad list of resources for mental health related concerns with licensed clinicians who can assist with any problems or issues they're experiencing. In addition, our Work/Life Program offers resource and referral services on such topics as childcare, elder care, financial services, and legal services.
