The following are Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO) and apply to all students in both undergraduate and graduate programs at Saint Joseph's College. ILO 4 explicitly requires all students attain an understanding of sustainability, in a traditional environmental sense (stewardship) and a more inclusive sense (sustainable communities, through social justice and responsible citizenship).
1. Identify and apply the ethical and moral dimensions of their particular field of study.
2. Demonstrate effective communication skills in both written and oral formats.
3. Demonstrate competency in programmatic content and career preparation through applied and/or experiential learning opportunities.

Some degree programs, e.g. Environmental Science, Marine Science, and Leadership for Sustainable Communities, are sustainability-focused throughout the entire program, i.e. in almost every course required for the major. Additionally degree programs in Business, Biology, Chemistry, Integrative Health/Wellness, and Theology include one or more course(s) that focuses on sustainability within the disciplinary context.
