A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
Saint Marys orientation for new or transferring students includes both explicit and implicit sustainability awareness programs. Tangible awareness programs include:
Handing out of branded water bottles to all new students to encourage use of refillable water vs. bottled water. Water coolers are provided in lieu of bottled water at key stations.
Printed materials in general have been reduced to minimize paper usage and include discussion of sustainability practices and living while on campus.
Social sustainability is evidenced through a required Day of Service as part of the Campus Weekend of Welcome.
