A brief description of when and why the building energy consumption baseline was adopted:
SMC utilizes a software program to control temperatures and run times in approximately 85% of the campus, software that became available in the baseline year.
The Facilities Services team is currently in training to learn to operate the software that controls much of the HVAC EMS systems.
SMC has several other stand-along Energy Management Systems that control their lighting.
None
A brief description of any building temperature standards employed by the institution:
For 85% of the buildings where central control is possible, the managed temperature is kept between 70-76 degrees F.
None
A brief description of any light emitting diode (LED) lighting employed by the institution:
SMC is installing more LED lighting. SMC is currently exploring costs/benefits, and manufacturers, and as lights need to be replaced, SMC is sampling LED as appropriate.
None
A brief description of any occupancy and/or vacancy sensors employed by the institution:
SMC has vacancy sensors in approximately 20% of classrooms, and approximately 50% of bathrooms.

A brief description of any building recommissioning or retrofit program employed by the institution:
SMC is currently exploring with PG&E opportunities for building recommissioning and/or retrofit programs.
None
A brief description of any energy metering and management systems employed by the institution:
All buildings are individually metered for electricity and gas. ALC Energy Management is the management system utilized for 85% of all buildings on campus.
None
A brief description of the institution's program to replace energy-consuming appliances, equipment and systems with high efficiency alternatives:
SMC customarily replaces energy-consuming appliances, equipment and systems with high-efficiency alternatives throughout campus as they are scheduled for renovation or replacement.
None
A brief description of any energy-efficient landscape design initiatives employed by the institution:
California Native Drought Resistant Garden has been installed as a demonstration of what can be utilized alternatively on campus.
None
A brief description of any vending machine sensors, lightless machines, or LED-lit machines employed by the institution:
All vending machines on campus have sensors and sleep modes. SMC is also trying to get away from soda vending machines with identified hydration stations.
