Recyclemania
A brief description of the campaign:
RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. Over an 8-week period each spring, colleges across the United States and Canada report the amount of recycling and trash collected each week and are in turn ranked in various categories based on who recycles the most on a per capita basis, as well as which schools have the best recycling rate as a percentage of total waste and which schools generate the least amount of combined trash and recycling.
With each week’s updated ranking, participating schools follow their performance against other colleges and use the results to rally their campus to reduce and recycle more.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
This campus-wide event from February - March. Landfill diversion was measured each week (weights in recycling, landfill and compost). Our diversion ranged from 13-24% during this competition.

Pledge for the Planet - Sustainability Month
A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
October is Sustainability month. To honor our commitment to sustainable living and climate action, students, staff and faculty will be taking a pledge to reduce their carbon footprint through one lifestyle change. We are asking members of the campus community to do the same. To make your pledge, swing by our tables in front of Oliver Hall on October 9th @ 1pm. If you need some inspiration or ideas, we will be documenting our students’ commitments on Instagram, Facebook and right here on our sustainability website. We’ll have more information at our pledge table.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
With dozens of students, staff and faculty taking a commitment to make one lifestyle change (many of which committed to reducing their meat consumption at least one day/week) we estimated a reduction of our collective carbon footprint by at least 2,880 lbs of CO2E.
