LYFT Ride Share Program
The partnership for shared ride subsidies with Lyft ride-hailing service will begin with the start of the academic year in late August. You can use your existing Lyft account by adding your Saint Mary's email address to it.

Shared rides that start or end at Saint Mary’s College and are to/from designated pick-up/drop off points will be subsidized for the first $15 of the ride. The designated pick-up/drop off points will include the Orinda, Lafayette, and Walnut Creek Bart stations, points in the Ascot/Donald Dr. residential area, Moraga Safeway, and within walking distance of the Walnut Creek Target.

The user will be responsible for costs exceeding $15.

Each account will be limited to 50 rides per month.

Students and Employees will receive an introductory email from Saint Mary's and Lyft to enroll in the program. We are working with Lyft to have the program begin close to September 3 and the program will not include days when the College is closed (e.g. Winter Break). Check your email from Saint Mary’s and Lyft for a full start date.

We will be monitoring data from Lyft to evaluate use patterns and opportunities for refinement.

Although any member of the Saint Mary’s community can use the Lyft program, the program is intended for the use of SMC employees and students who do not bring a car to campus. It should provide SMC with an alternative to commuting to campus via personal automobile. In the first month of the program, we will be evaluating the use data to identify whether the Lyft program is operating as intended and we will assess the program with the Parking Advisory Group (representatives of students, faculty and staff) to make modifications based on that use. The Lyft program cannot be used to move about within the campus boundary.
