Every year our campus conducts a Campus Climate Survey and Undergraduate Student Experience Survey includes questions about diversity, equity, and inclusion among other issues. Survey participants include students, staff and faculty.

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
The most recent climate survey results show progress in certain indicators including but limited to improved shared governance policies, comfort in discussing racially sensitive issues, increased emphasis on creating an inclusive community. Indicators that show areas for improvement include but are not limited to a need for more support and services for campus diversity initiatives, dissatisfaction in workload, more support to help students bring about social change.

In the analysis of the data, the College’s Institutional Research Office identifies the areas of greatest concern. Appropriate committees and leadership teams review these items to action plans. For example, the College Committee on Inclusive Excellence and DEI leadership team develop DEI action plans grounded in the results of the Campus Climate Survey and aligned with the intuitional strategic plan. Other teams, like BIRT and GUIDE training use the Climate Survey to focus their attention on key campus issues for ensuring equity. Other committees that utilize the Campus Climate Survey to inform their division’s strategic and action plans include the Provost Council, Academic Senate, the Campus Deans and Directors and the Student Success Committee.

The results are shared at All Staff Day, All Faculty Day and students are provided the results of the survey through informational meetings.
