Short-term study abroad trip to Belize with Tropical Biology:
Led by Dr. Jameson Chace, “Tropical Belize” will run from Jan. 2-14, 2014. Participants will study firsthand the evolutionary ecology of important plant and animal taxa in tropical ecosystems. The course emphasizes intensive field exploration of tropical ecosystems on land and sea, introducing students to a great diversity of tropical habitats, each possessing distinctive biotas that demonstrate unique evolutionary histories and ecological dynamics.
Mercy Farm: May 11-15
Mercy Farm service trip (May 2023) Located in Benson Vermont, Mercy Farm is owned and managed by Mercy Ecology, whose mission is to inspire reverence for Earth and to work towards sustainability of life by acting in harmony with all creation. Volunteers will spend most of their day working on the farm and at other local sites. They will also participate in Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream, a transformative educational program that explores the challenges facing humanity and the opportunities we as a human family have to create a new future.
Mercy Immersion Program: At Salve Regina, addressing the mercy critical concerns of antiracism, women, earth, immigration and nonviolence is integral to the student experience. Creating a world that is harmonious, just and merciful requires up-close engagement with issues of social justice and inequity. The Mercy Immersion Program provides opportunities for students to learn from and serve with those on the margins of society, explores the root causes of injustice and encourages students to be agents of change through acts of mercy.
